California Grand Master Visits BayRock Lodge

Jamie Jepsen, Our California Grand Master from Bellflower Lodge #463, attended a recent community social hosted by BayRock Lodge.

Other guests included Brothers and Sisters from Chorro Lodge #168, Lompoc Lodge #248 as well as Special Olympian, Kristen Arias and her mother Patty and representatives of the Los Osos Cares organization; Carol Devore, Linda Quesenberry and Meredith Bates.

We fed them, we donated to their various causes and we ate ice cream! A better time could not be had.

We take your leftovers and sell them at our sale. We use the proceeds to help fund our ongoing charitable donations and fellowship events. Any donations are appreciated. We are not a charity ourselves, so we cannot give you a taxable donation for the IRS. Proceeds support our giving to the following organizations:

2019 Special Olympics

A splendid time was guaranteed for all … at the Special Olympics Games held at Cuesta College!

Members of the California Conservation Corps joined Bayrock Lodge Oddfellows and some wonderful community volunteers to host a game booth during the recent Special Olympics event at Cuesta College. Many toys, hugs and smiles were shared with these amazing athletes. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all for your support of this most worthy celebration of community.

A special thanks to Latoya Owens, our liaison from the California Conservation Corps for providing a great group of corpmembers & Felicia Connley, our liaison from the 2019 Special Olympics, we couldn’t have done it without both of your efforts!

Want to Decorate a Winning Float?

One of the great things that Odd Fellows like to do is to participate in making floats. It’s a great way to bond with others with a common purpose. After all, we’re all about Friendship, so what a great way to make new friends!

Each year, Odd Fellows and Rebekahs from all over Los Angeles (and California) decorate a float for the Rose Bowl Parade. In 2018, they won the Director’s Award for “most outstanding artistic design and use of floral and non-floral materials” with their float “A Sacrifice to Serve” honoring Purple Heart recipients!

The group of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs who decorate the floats each year for the Rose Parade put out the call to Odd Fellows and Rebekahs in California to join them in making a float and those who did so this year put together a winner.
